English Week 2019

The first week of April was very special for the whole school and, of course, for the
English Department: we celebrated the English Week!
This year we have had the collaboration of  many families and specialists, who have given us their time to teach us many new things
about English and its culture: concerts, stories, dances, plays, songs, sports ...

All the levels of the center enjoyed the activities, being a great success for all of us.

From the English Department we want to thank all the families and collaborators, as well as our children and teachers for the great effort made during the English Week: without you it would not be possible!

Our English "espais"

This year we are working it different English “espais”: Gourmets (P4 and P5), The Market (1st, 2nd and 3rd year) and Death on the Nile (4th, 5th and 6th year).

In “Gourmets” the kids play different roles, imagining that they are in a restaurant. They “cook”, ask for and “eat” their meals, enjoying a nice English environment.

In “The Market” they are in a supermarket doing things that we normally do there…  buy, ask for products, look at the labels, calculate and pay the products… all in English.

In “Death on the Nile”, the kids learn how the Ancient Egyptians mummified. We learn about the techniques and the symbology in Egyptian religion. We make coffins and wrap mummies, and we write with hieroglyphs and different spells to protect a person.

Halloween has arrived!

Today is October 31st, 2018: Halloween Night!

Our Primary students have done these wonderful creations to celebrate it: magical pumpking cards and terrifying bats! They are living all over the school: at the main door, at the corridors... They're supposed to be very scary, but don't you think they're adorable?

HAPPY HALLOWEEN!

English Week 2018

What a lovely English week we’ve had! We started on Monday 19th with Mar’s father, Richard, who came to show us some American quotes in the “Wizard of Oz” film. They were so interesting and useful! and now we know why and when to use those quotes:
“I’m melting” “Lions, tigers, bears, oh my!” “My people come and go so quickly here!” “There’s no place like home”. “Toto, now I know we are not in Kansas!” “Pay no attention to that man behind the curtain”

The girls and boys from Year 6 have been “story-tellers” for a day. They have prepared a story with different objects to explain it to the rest of the classes. Watch the photos, they are great!

Music is part of our life and our school has enjoyed a parents’ Rock band! Amazing! They made all of us dance. Thanks a lot!

Year 4 have had special physical activities to learn English thank to Mire and Elsa, two English teachers to be!

We watched English theatre with IPA production for the older kids and Christian for the younger ones! It was really good!

Ian’s father, Edisson, came to talk about “team building”. It was really interesting and we learned a lot about ourselves as a group. Thanks a lot!

Eirin’s mother drove us to Scotland, a magic land where the Harry Potter franchise takes place. We asked her many many questions and enjoyed every slide that she showed us. Thanks!

Marc “the monitor” played many English games with Years 5 and 6. We had lots of fun and lots of learning too!

Tian, Nil and Joan’s mothers were expert “story-tellers” for a day. Watch the little ones faces! Amazing! Thanks. Simon’s mother did a good job doing a very relaxing yoga activity.

HALLOWEEN

HALLOWEEN

Halloween! The best day of the year! Monsters, ghosts, and zombies, are out. I'm Fiona and I'm a 6 grader in Collserola school, and in this school we have a super cool tradition for Halloween.
Don't you like dressing up? And with your friends?
The best thing... you scare students and you can see them under the tables!!!!
All fith graders dress up as zombies, monsters, ghosts, witches... And they learn the terrorific song of collserola school, and sing it from first grade to 6 grade. I remember doing it last year and of course, sixth grade weren't scared becouse they've done it last year. But for example 2 and 3 grade were under the tables screming and creeping out. One kid was saying -Who are they? I want to get out of here!!!- So bye bye, or I'll freak you out!
